Control Arms
On most independent front suspensions, somewhere past about 3" of lift the factory upper control arm runs out of ball joint angle. The symptom is an alignment shop telling you camber will not come back into range, and a truck that wears the inside edge of a new set of tires in a few hundred miles.
An aftermarket upper arm repositions the ball joint for the new ride height, and usually gives back some of the droop travel the lift took away. Many use a uniball or a larger joint for the increased angle.
